If Poetry Is Just Tweeting, It Would Speak To You Then

I'm not even sorry.

Anyway, here's part 2 of this assignment: Found Poetry: How-To #1: Erasure
This particular idea has its roots in a discussion I had with a friend several weeks ago. He wants to write a stream-of-consciousness piece in the style of Jaden Smith tweets. But enough about his project! Since my poetry doesn't make much sense even to me, I figured I might as well draw from source material that doesn't make much sense either. ;)

Methodology: I asked another friend of mine to give me a collection of the best Jaden Smith tweets, and she quickly emerged from the depths of imgur with this album. I treated the order of the tweets as law so I can't be accused of manipulating my source material, and compiled the tweets into one image: Jadensmithtweets Source.
I then allowed myself to use a minimum of one word and a maximum of two words from each tweet in order, with the hopes of creating a new outlandish sentence to rival any of the original tweets! Speaking of which, here's the source of the source: twitter.com/officialjaden

(Also, I wanted to submit this in the "fan art" category but alas, there's no "poetry" subcategory there.)

  • Did the poet intervene on the text? Meaning, is this something new, or is it merely a summarized version of the original text?
    Oh wow...
  • Does the work fit in the category that it's been placed?
    Like a lubed up...
  • Can you hear the poet's voice in the new narrative?
    When I'm done smiling.
  • Does the poem work on it's own? Grammatically and syntactically, is it solid, just like a non-found poem should be?
Grammar doesn't seem to be the goal
  • Is there a narrative here, or is it just a list? Does the poem SAY anything?
I liked the poem, and I loved the source text, I might just have to depress my follow button.
